I'm one of those "returning" Fast-5 adopters who had success then bailed. I came to FF last fall as almost a last resort; I've been yo-yo dieting my whole life and recently gained about 30 pounds (which I *could not* afford to do) as I started "the change" as a middle-aged woman and adjusted to some substantial marital challenges. One thing I love about FF is that it removes the emotional eating piece for me- it's pretty simple- if I'm not in the window, no, I don't eat. As I restart, I have a couple of questions that I think were answered in this forum previously but now I can't find the threads. I'm hoping folks can share thoughts on a couple of issues:
1) I work full-time and often have frequent breakfast and lunch meetings. When it is a big group it's no big deal for me not to eat (I can even fudge a bit and tell them I already ate something if it comes up), but when I am invited to a meal by an individual for work or there are very few people, not eating has been a point of strain. I've gone to trying to schedule late lunches when possible that are nearer my window (typically 3-8pm) or moving to meetings over coffee, but sometimes it's unavoidable and I find my self in a meeting where it is really weird for me not to eat anything. What I've been doing is going ahead and eating something light (also low-carb) and then resuming my normal schedule. Other suggestions?
2) Last time I did FF I took the weekends off and ate througout the days, resuming FF on Monday. Although I did lose about 12 lbs over 3 months doing this, I think that ultimately these regular off-days were my undoing with the whole program. Weekend brunch is a big deal for my family sometimes and so I'd like to participate in that. I know that for FF to stick for me as a lifestyle that I have to have some flexibility. Any advice is welcome.
Thanks in advance, and I'd especially like to hear success stories from chonic yo-yo dieters who have been liberated long term by FF. I've reached the point that I figure I'm going to have to majorly restrict my eating one way or the other- either from the crazy eating pattern you have to assume with a LapBand or Roux en Y or with FF....
