Obsessed!

That's what I am discovering about myself as I go through the adjustement phase : I am food obsessed!

Food is running on my mind every time, as soon as I wake up!

My break-fast is today at 3h30 PM and it's the very first day where it's so hard!

What are your tricks and tips when a day is especially hard and you check the clock every minute??

I know this last sentence sound very stupid but this is exactly how my irrationnal mind is taking over me.

If it is in the first few weeks then just keep busy. It will go away and your body will accept your new pattern but it is tough. I am in my sixth month and could not be happier with my choice!

How much weight have you lost? What was your starting weight if you don't mind me asking? I have only been on this a few days of consistency before and after Christmas. I keep restarting and hope to hang in there this next go around. I have some questions for anyone wanting answer me:

1. I am at my highest weight ever of 232. Is there hope that this will work for me?
2. Is it okay that my window is from 2-7? That seems to be the most doable for me.
3. I try to break the fast with something healthy like meat and veggies, but I tend to attack the sugar after that...will this change?

Any advice as to what to expect over the next few days would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi
I started 8 months ago at 259 and am now 165.
My window is 5-10, this is personal preference, any window should be ok.
Combined fast-5 with low carb, now paleo. First 2 weeks were the worst as there were definite withdrawal symptoms, but kept with it and fine now. It may not be a walk in the park at first and it can boil down to how determined people are to see it through, but it should get easier.

HI,
I have been going since the begining of September, so about five months now, I just did my third lot of measurements and I have lost 17 inches all over and 6.1 inches just off my waist. I started at 209lbs and have lost 38.5lbs. Dropped down nearly 3 dress sizes. I still eat carbs twice a week. I have pretty much cut out alcohol and junk food, the odd sweetie here and there. I didn't loose much weight on the scales for the first month but I did loose inches which is a great result and I found it took that first month to adjust to the changes.

I have my eating window from 4-9 as that is what suits and fits in with family and kids and it means I get to eat dinner with them too. I exercise reguarly and trained and competed in a small triathlon back in October. It was great to have an incentive to loose weight. I also ride horses and found that I was too big to ride so loosing weight has been so good for that too. I feel so much better and have a lot more energy too. i am someone who always thought about my next meal and then would snack out of boredom between meals. I have found setting myself small and achievable goals has really helped along the way. My next goal is to complete a 6 mile run, I am doing this with a friend so we can encourage each other.

Different diets work for different people, I have tried others before and failed and I never last very long on them, but I have had a good such good results on the fast 5 and it has been easy to stick with. I also found easy to do over the holiday period and didn't gain any weight over the few weeks of celebrations.

If you have a friend to do it with so you can talk and encourage each other I would suggest this too. Good luck and I hope it works for you too.

Thank you poiuyt00 for your reply.

I've finished my adjustement phase, this is my very first day on full Fast-5.

I had only one another day very difficult last week, but since then it was very easy, until for this morning, I already feel hunger...

But having reviewed the e-book from Dr.Herring I understand that it can be yet difficult until two next weeks.

I can't wait to see results of loosing weight too!

Wow Damien, you joined on my birthday- so that means I have to reply to your question. :o)

Trust me- TRUST ME!! I know exactly what you mean! I too was totally unaware how obsessed I was with food until I just couldn't have any at all. It seemed like a punishment! I've had weight struggles my whole life, so for me it was something I learned early on. What works best for me to get through those tough times is to just stay as busy as possible doing something else I enjoy. Certain types of work or creative ventures that fulfill me, talking to a friend who understands, getting out for a walk or run. You have to find what works for you. The think I love most about Fast 5 is how happy I am when my window opens!! I don't care where I am, I'm like a kid in a candy store! What can I eat first? What next? And even though I can't eat much (because your stomach shrinks over time on the program), it truly is the happiest time of day for me. And then the other happy time is when I weigh myself in the morning and see that I've lost another pound or two. Those are VERY happy times as well.

Good luck to you!
Nancy

Thank you Nancy! Your warm words are inspiring!

Here are my update:

- I had a slip last thursday, I ate at noon, I had a bad night and was feverish... it scared me that I would never be able to go back on track... but...

- Since now it seems that I'm pretty well adjusted! Even when some friends bring tempting foods like pizzas at noon I'm not even hungry and wait for my window to open patiently (well not in the last hour I must say... ^^ ).

I understand what you say Nancy about the happiness when the window open. ;)

And since I don't weight myself I can relate to the pleasure to see my waist line shrinked every week. :)

The key is to keep yourself busy...take on a project, rent some tv dvd's and watch them back to back...keep your mind occupied.

Also drink a lot of fluids, water, hot water, black tea, black coffee...warm liquids help you feel full.

Also, if you are obsessed with food this could work to your advantage...it did for me...plan out exactly what you will eat when your window opens...think about what you will eat, look forward to it. That will help you to wait because you won't want to break your fast with something that doesn't measure up to the wonderful meal you have planned...You can do it!
